Introducing RadioPress
RadioPress is by far the most advanced and featured-rich audio-broadcasting system available for the WordPress platform, running on both WordPress, WordPress MU and BuddyPress, RadioPress takes advantage of the features available from each of the underlying platforms it runs from.
Upload multiple files from the administrator interface, or simply dump folders full of audio files via FTP and RadioPress will scan the files for ID3 tags and associate the relevant, song, artist, album and genre information to the file. Alternatively, you can edit the tags associated with each file directly from the administrator interface – including the album or individual file’s artwork.
Create an unlimited number of folders for storing songs, sound effects or anything else required to help organize your library, then build playlists by dragging and dropping tunes like you would with iTunes that help to categorize and segment your files. Develop rules for intervals that control dead-air time, and use combinations of songs, playlists and intervals to develop your own shows, that can then be scheduled to play at certain times of the day with unprecedented control of recurrence. You can set-up an entire year’s worth of online audio-broadcasting, which visitors to your website can listen to from the advanced integrated media-player that’s included with RadioPress.
For multi-user sites, there are advanced administrative options for super-admins that allow you to determine what other administrators are able to do, and playlists, intervals and shows can be shared amongst the community, which brings us to BuddyPress; where the community can vote for their favorite station, songs or shows, upload recommendations and interact with the virtual DJs through the station’s wall, with new scheduled shows added to the sitewide stream and a whole host more.
The advanced integrated media-player has a number of options, the most fascinating of which is the framed-player, which allows the media-player to be located in the header and display your site in a frame below it, meaning that as people move around the site and visit new pages, the music continues to play. With RadioPress, audio enthusiasts can create their very own online radio stations, advanced podcasting portals and anything else that can be imagined and involves scheduled audio playback.
The main features include:
- WordPress, WordPress MU and BuddyPress Compatible
- Upload Audio from RadioPress Interface or via FTP
- Auto-Detection of Existing ID3 Tags
- Inline Editing of Tags and Artwork
- Drag and Drop Re-Ordering
- Library Management
- Playlist Management
- Interval Management
- Show Management
- Advanced Scheduling
- Shared Playlists, Intervals and Shows
- Advanced Search & Filtering of Audio Library
- Advanced Widgetised Front-End Media-Players
To get an idea of what to expect, please stay tuned for up-coming screen-casts…

This sounds like a really interesting plugin. I do have one question… can the player run .pls winamp files for live streaming?
So instead of having a database of .mp3 files, I can have a database of .pls files for live streaming from one place.
Thanks for taking the time to post your question Cristian.
Unfortunately, this is not yet a function.
It is however the direction that we plan to take things, and is already part of our internal TRAC for a future release…
heh, looks cool.. any idea of when this would be available??
Hi Mike – thanks for stopping by and commenting on our site.
At present, our planned date for releasing this plugin is mid-April.
We’re doing everything in our power to reach the date…
Looks very interesting, I really would like to implement this for my new buddypress powered music sharing site. Do you think there is/can be a way to have a radiopress player on each members page where they can create their own playlist’s and showcase their own music?
@diepro – BuddyPress integration for individual members is on the list, as are independent front-end players…
However, we must warn you that this plugin is HUGE, and is only about 60% to 70% complete at the moment, so an exact release date cannot be provided…
We are now hoping for an end of May release and will keep everyone posted once we are closing to reaching this goal.
Excellent!!!
This look awesome. However I can’t find any information on where/how do I get this and how much does it cost?
Any demo site up? would love to look at it live.
Thanks for stopping buy and taking the time to comment – our official launch date (at the moment) for ThePremiumPress and gMaps is May the 22nd – where we first want to complete our presentation at WordCamp Malaysia before going live with our premium subscription services. Unfortunately, in the process of preparing for WordCamp Malaysia, gMaps and Foursquare integration, we have slipped behind schedule with RadioPress.
That is not to say it is no longer being developed – far from it, we are presently in the middle of finishing off the track and artwork management modules, which leaves us with little more than the settings modules, front-end players and BuddyPress integration to complete, but even still, this is a good one to two months away from being ready to use within a production environment.
We hope people can wait that long…? :p
Very exciting theme, hope the progress is going well. Any update on progress on this – it has teased us 2 much with just the noe blog I think haha
Is there any news on this plugin yet? Very interested in seeing what you have planned, esp if it utilizes post-types
Custom post types will not be supported in this first version, but as explained to you via email, it really does not need it at this point, as its much more than an audio management system and more focused on scheduled broadcasting and handling hundreds if not thousands of audio files.
Hi, I’m waiting for this product
any expectations about release date?
Despite our set-backs, as outlined in the following post:
http://thepremiumpress.com/blog/2010/07/25/whats-happening-at-thepremiumpress/
We are still planning to have this completed before the end of the year.
I wonder what happened with this project?
Also, Will it have download option with possibility to show only to admins, users or disable it.
Regards
Giorgi
Download options will be available, as will fully customizable control from the super_admin.
To all keeping track of this project and asking us where it is and what’s happening, we have just posted an update on our blog to give you all the low-down:
